Check your Heater to Keep your Family Safe

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Halo Heating and Cooling. All opinions are 100% my own.

Do you check your heater before using it? You probably are saying I just turn it on. Yes, I used to do the same thing until this year. When the temperatures started to dip, It was time to turn off the air and turn on the heater. My husband is very diligent in changing the filters every 3 months. This way he can do a visual inspection of our heating unit. He feels this helps our air quality in our home. He has no heating and cooling experience what so ever but he does know a thing or 2 about when to call the professionals.

As the seasons change to the cooler temperatures, We usually get out heater inspected and repaired as seen fit. This year we did not do that and what a mistake that was. We put our family at risk because we were being frugal in the wrong area. One night, Our CO2 detector went off. It ended being a bad valve in our heating system. I am not saying that if we had it checked by a heating and cooling professionals that this could have been averted but it may have.
