How To Do The Car Donations Right To Benefit The Community

Reviews · August 17, 2020

When it comes to donating possessions, most people generally think about books, old clothes, souvenirs, or furniture, but car donations surpass all levels. The selfless act of donating your old car to a charity is indeed praiseworthy. But you should do it right to maximize the output of the donation. You should also understand the practical reasons behind this act of kindness and help make the most of it for the benefit of the community.

So, here goes!

How can car donations help those in need?

Donating an old car that takes up space unnecessarily in your garage to a charity will help them raise some funds for a cause. The car will be auctioned and sold by them, and the money will be used to better the lives of the poor and needy people in the local community. This money can even sponsor the education of an orphaned child, which would otherwise have been spent on materialistic things.

The car can also be sold to a dealer for its scrap metal and the money from the deal can go into the charity funds that aim to improve living standards for those in need. For example, the people at Mersgoodwill.org offer free education to many students in public schools with the help of donation funds. If 5-6 people from your community donate their old cars, enough funds can be raised to help people suffering from financial issues.

Tips to help you do the donations right

To optimize the returns on your car donation, you should follow a few steps that have been mentioned below:

Get informed about the foundation

Acquire as much information as you can about the charity, their objectives, mission, vision, values, and of course, their location, before you donate the car for their cause. You should make sure that the money from selling/auctioning the car should go into the education or welfare of the needy.

Get the car inspected

To ensure that the deal is worth your effort and that of the charity, you should run a basic inspection of your old car before donating it. See if the brakes, tires, windows, and wipers are in proper condition and check for potential damages. If possible, you can get some repairs done to increase the selling price of the car, which will help benefit the people in need better.

Check the car for personal items

Many a time, people misplace some of their personal belongings in the old car and consider them lost. Hence, you should check the insides of your car for such items that may be of value, like jewelry, lost phones, sim cards, money, or anything else, before you give it up for donation. Check the floor mats, dashboard, and space under the seats for more valuable things, like credit cards, identity cards, keys, or wallet.

Clean the car

Your car may be accumulating dust in the garage for years, so make it a point to clean it thoroughly before donating it. When you’re planning to do something for society, you should always be ready to go the extra mile, and cleaning the car is one such way of doing that.

Wrapping it up

Donating your car can also give you some tax relief, but that shouldn’t be your primary reason for going ahead with it. You should be more focussed on how this act of yours will benefit the people in need of the money. After all, we all should contribute towards society to leave it a better place for our next generations.

Interesting Car Facts

You may own your own car, but there are plenty of facts we bet you didn’t know about the wonderful world of automobiles. Since the introduction of the motor car in the late 19th century, people the world over have become fascinated with these vehicles. The car has evolved into high-speed models, colourful creations, and symbols of status. Here are some fascinating facts about the much-loved motor car for you, your family, and your friends to enjoy.

Watching paint dry
It takes an average of 25 hours to build one car. You would think individual mechanics of the vehicle would be the most time-consuming part, yet, incredibly, it takes ten hours to just paint an averaged sized vehicle.

Massive fine
Speeding anywhere but on the race track, or on private property, is not OK, and to prove that, the Swedish government issued a fine the equivalent of $1,000,000 to a man traveling over the permitted limit. In Sweden fines are issued as a percentage of your earnings, and to date, this is the largest fine ever given for speeding anywhere in the world.

OMG it’s an OEM!
Ever heard of the acronym, OEM? Perhaps you want to wow your friends with some auto-jargon? An OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturers and is a term used to describe certain companies that produce parts and subsystems which are then used in another product created by a different company. Confused? Discover more about the OEM Meaning at Tuning Guru, and marvel your fellow car enthusiasts with some more fascinating facts.

Expensive tastes
You may have noticed that some coffee chains charge an astonishing amount for their premium coffee choices. To get an idea of just how expensive a coffee can be, check out this fact – you will be charged 8 times more for a gallon of Grande Latte Starbucks than for a gallon of gas!

Speaking of coffee…
If you love coffee and are looking for ways to reuse all those coffee grounds, take a look at the Car-puccino. This one-off car runs on coffee grounds, travels at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour, and requires re-filling and cleaning every 30 to 45 miles. Not exactly a convenient way to travel, but it is certainly one way to help the environment.

Clean machines
Cleaning your car can be quite therapeutic and is a great way for your kids to earn some pocket money. However, not all people enjoy giving their car a good wash as apparently 16% of people in America never wash their car. Is that even hygienic?

Traveling in style
The heaviest limousine is reported to weigh over 50,000 pounds and can seat around 40 passengers. This deluxe vehicle features three lounges and a bar. Imagine turning up to prom in that!

A lasting legacy
It appears that Rolls Royce really do produce cars that are built to last, as it is believed that 75% of all cars produced by the company are still on the road.

This Is How I Shop For The Perfect Car

Uncategorized · August 25, 2017

This is a sponsored blog post on behalf of cars.com written by me. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Where do you shop for the perfect car? We used to go from dealership to dealership to find our perfect car until now. We were just in the market for a new car as our old one was not working right. This time we decided to see what all the hype was by looking online first. The first and soon to find out the only site we needed to look at was Cars.com.

The one thing I hated about shopping for a car at the dealerships was how you would always be pounced on when you arrived there. This will not happen when you shop online. We literally spent hours upon hours looking at a ton of vehicles. We did not know if we wanted a new or a used car but we did want one that would fit into our budget. You search by Make, Millage, How far the car is from where you live and so on. I was impressed with the amount of certified used cars and that is what we bought.

I never thought we would find a used car with low mileage in this pristine shape. This SUV is just beautiful. So my tips for this new way of car buying would be to tell you that the possibilities of finding the vehicle you are looking for will be on cars.com.
