Unpicking Picky Pooches To Make Mealtimes Much Easier

Reviews · October 11, 2018

Every owner has to coax their dogs into eating now and again. Most four-legged fluffs go through periods where they don’t fancy food. Sometimes this can be due to illness. At other times, it’s because they know we’ve tried to hide pills in their meal. In the majority of cases, though, starvation doesn’t last long. One dog only has so much willpower, after all, and those kibbles look too damn tasty!

But, what happens if your dog never seems to get stuck into meals? In some cases, a dog can be picky by nature. Often, this is down to breed. As you can see from this yorkies care guide, yorkies are often fussy eaters. Bulldogs, golden retrievers, and others are also renowned for being picky with food. And, this can cause owners no end of strife.

For the most part, we deal with this by trying every food on the market until we find one our dog’s like. The trouble is, they then go off that if they have it too much. It’s a never ending problem, and it’s one you could tackle by making dog food from scratch. It may seem like a lot of hassle, but it won’t be any worse than traipsing from one pet shop to the other. Even better, ensuring homemade food goes down a treat is as simple as focusing on these key ingredients.

Meat

Even fussy eaters would be hard pressed to turn their nose up to a good bit of cooked meat. This is where they get the bulk of their protein, and it’s also where flavor comes into play. Sadly, shop bought options don’t make use of this. They either use meat no one would recognize or compact it into unappealing hard squares. Cooking up fresh meat, then, could be all it takes to break that eating barrier.

Fresh veggies

A plain plate of meat isn’t going to provide all the nutrients your pup needs. If in doubt about this, contact a vet to learn more about dietary requirements. For the most part, though, bulking meals with veg will ensure your dog stays healthy. It’ll also take you a long way in flavor stakes. Options such as carrots, peas, and even broccoli feature in most shop bought foods. And, they should make an appearance in your homemade options. What dog could resist that beautiful splash of color?

Fat

Last, you need to hold food together, and fat is the ideal way to do it. Meat fat is your best bet, though vegetable oils and such can work as well. The key to remember is that fat may sound bad, but it’s crucial for your dog’s health. It also adds an irresistible flavor even a Yorkie would have a hard time saying no to.

So, those are your staples. By mixing up these three key features, you can create a new recipe every day. That variety, along with the flavors on offer, could make fussy eating a thing of your dog’s past.

4 Ways to Keep Warm During the Colder Months

Reviews · January 15, 2018

Sometimes it doesn’t matter what we seem to do, we feel the cold. That’s especially true for the ladies who tend to stay colder than men, especially in their extremities. To avoid getting sick in the first months of the year while the temperatures are often frigid, here are a few tips to stay warmer.

Keep the Fireplace Well Stocked

In homes that are permitted to have a natural wood burning fireplace, not running out of chopped firewood is priority number one. The last thing you want is to run out of prepared wood ready to burn in the late evening when the temperatures outside are less than friendly.

Finding the best splitting axe reviews is not easy, so if you don’t already own a suitable one, take care to choose carefully according to both your body size and arm strength. A quality axe that’s too heavy for you to easily swing up and down is an ineffective one; pick based on your height, arm strength and overall flexibility.

Fluffy Blankets

Gone are the days when a rough-feeling blanket is your only choice. Now there are soft, fluffy blankets with interesting designs for adults or little kids to cover themselves on cold nights. Whether using one to feel cozier while lying on the sofa in front of the TV or over the comforter to provide greater insulation throughout the night, you can never go wrong with an extra blanket, or three.

Also, consider whether you may have guests over during the colder months who are using your guest bedroom. They’ll surely enjoy the optional blanket and will feel it’s a thoughtful touch, whether they find that they need it or not. And, if you have one or more dogs in the home, they will love their own blanket too.

Play Games That Keep You Active

Playing games as a group is ideal because it creates a competitive environment to enhance gameplay. However, on colder days, playing games like Twister and other ones that involve you physically interacting with the game helps you stay warmer by preventing couch surfing or being sedentary. Other indoor games that stay away from the cold outdoors are excellent options too.

Eat Hearty Meals That Warm Your Body

A hearty winter stew or creamy chicken soups and thick, crusty bread to dip into it make for good winter warmers at the dinner table. The last thing you want is a cold salad, even it has some delicious dressing on it! Corn Chowder is another dish that remains popular to warm the heart up. Also, baked chicken pies with mash potatoes or Mac ‘n’ Cheese with cauliflower both remain favorites that are delicious when hiding from the cold indoors.

Staying warm on cold days is half the battle to avoid getting sick and developing a serious illness. The other half of the battle is feeding yourself well, so your immune system stays strong enough to ward off any winter germs flying around unsympathetically, ready to strike.

5 ways to strengthen your relationship

Reviews · November 30, 2017

Even if you are incredibly proud of the current state of your relationship, it is vital that you still put the work in. There is always room for improvement. It is also important to remember that you and your partner are constantly changing. As you move through life, your tastes will change, your personalities will evolve, and your perspectives will alter. That is why you need to do everything in your power to ensure your connection stands the test of time. If you are wondering how to do this, you will need to read on. Below are five ways that you can strengthen your relationship.

Give each other gifts

Although it is useful to have a routine, it is also important to take your partner by surprise from time to time. One of the best ways for you to do this is by treating them to a thoughtful gift. Ideally, this gift should be an item that introduces a little excitement into your relationship. If you are searching for inspiration, you should turn to Hydromax. This is the perfect place for you to find a gift that will help to improve your partner’s confidence. It could also help to improve your levels of intimacy.

Give each other compliments

Make it your goal to give your partner a compliment every time you see them. Whatever you do, don’t just stick to aesthetic observations, as this could come across as shallow. Instead, you should think about deep and meaningful compliments that you can share with your other half. You could even make each other positive affirmation jars that are filled with uplifting opinions about each other. This will take the pressure off you having to remember to say something each day. Instead, your partner can choose when they enjoy one of your compliments.

Schedule in conversations

Even if you are struggling to manage a particularly demanding schedule, you should still make time for conversations with your partner. This will ensure that you stay connected and are receptive to each other’s needs. Perhaps you could set aside at least one evening every week to talk things through. Obviously, it would be great if you could find even more time, but this is not always possible. When you do get the chance to talk, make sure that you turn off your technology, eliminate all distractions, and sit facing one another. It may feel awkward at first, but it is a great way for you to improve your emotional intimacy.

Prepare each other meals

You should also have a go at preparing each other meals. Simple gestures like this are a great way to express affection. Why not look out for days when your partner is extremely stressed and will benefit from an uplifting treat? Just imagine how touched they will be if you go out of your way to bring a smile to their face. You should also encourage your partner to do the same. Hopefully, they will do so without you having to ask, but if not you could always challenge each other to make at least one special meal a week. Don’t worry this doesn’t have to be a complicated process. There are plenty of quick and easy dinners that will still taste delicious.

Set yourself a joint goal

In your relationship, you should be working together as a team. You need to have each other’s backs in stressful situations and understand both of your strengths and weaknesses. Why not improve this area of your relationship by setting yourself a collective goal? You could run a marathon together, raise money for a charitable organization, or undertake a DIY project. The most important thing is that you are working together to do something positive.

How often do you cook a meal at home? With life so hectic these days, It seems just easier to get fast food or anything that you can grab on the go. I have had enough with all of this. I do cook meals in my home daily. Sometimes I will admit, It is something from the freezer that is already made and I just have to heat and serve it to my family. I am fed up with all of the high calories and poor nutritional value of most of them but that was until I met Good Food Made Simple. I was thrilled when the opportunity came about for me to review Good Food Made Simple. I have heard of it but I have never tasted one. You can find more great recipes and product reviews from our friends at the Village Bakery.

I have been diagnosed with several health conditions and that is why I was thrilled to learn that Good Food Made Simple has just launched a new line of entrees that are organic and healthy for you and they launched them at Target stores where they are always offered for a terrific price. I tried several of them but I think my favorite was the Cavatappi Bolognese. This product as a sauce made fr a traditional Italian recipe made with fresh sautéed organic carrots, onions, and basil. Tossed with perfectly cooked organic Cavatappi noodles and topped with organic mozzarella. I thought the flavors were just out of this world. They seemed to complement each other. I would recommend Good Food Made Simple to anyone who wants a quick healthy microwaveable meal.
