You don’t need to go far, you simply need to make sure that you have accommodation booked if you don’t want to return home for the day. So long as you do enough research, you are bound to find a natural park, or something else that will pique your interest to drive out to.

  1. Relax with a good book

Reading is important for your mental clarity, and there is no better time for catching up on it than over the weekend. When was the last time that you read a book that you felt changed your perspective on a subject, for instance?

If it has been so long that you can’t pinpoint the time, but are at a loss over what to read, consider picking up a book off the best seller’s list, and make it a point to read at least a few chapters over the weekend, until you finally finish it.

  1. Cook with your family

The type of food that you eat affects both your mental and physical wellbeing, and cooking with your family is thus a good educational experience, and moreover can teach you to live a healthier lifestyle.

After you cook together, it’s equally important that you sit down together for dinner, as well.

  1. Visit a spa or take a bathcooking

Depending on your budget, consider visiting a spa, or simply taking a bath over the weekend to help you detox.

Invest in some bubble bath or bath bombs if you are taking the bath inside your home, put on some music, and let your mind drift to happy thoughts.

Even getting a massage, while at the spa, will help you focus on the present moment, as opposed to anything else. This will be incredibly beneficial for your mental health, and thereby maintaining a peaceful state.

  1. Go on a hike

Spending more time outdoors is a great way to spend time with your loved ones, and moreover for your overall health. If you don’t want to take a car to go somewhere far, you can simply get to your hike via public transportation, or alternatively, take a walk in the park if all of the aforementioned is outside of your reach on this particular weekend.

You will always feel more creatively inspired after spending some time outside, and this will benefit you throughout the weekday as well, for work and school alike.

  1. Catch up with friends

Friends are important people in your life, and thus, you need to spend quality time with them.

If it’s been too long that you can’t remember when you caught up last, it’s time to give some of them a call.

Even if you simply invite them over to your house, it’s always beneficial for everyone to talk about one another’s lives and spend some quality bonding time together.

If you had a particularly bad week, for instance, you will no doubt need your friends, as they are your rock, so that you can vent to them and above all, enjoy their good company.

  1. Watch a movie or television series

If you are often too busy to watch a movie or another television series over the weekday, then the best time to do this is at the end of the week.

However, make sure that you don’t get so caught up with a new television series that you forget to get up off your couch over the span of a whole day or two, as this will only harm your health and wellbeing.

  1. Volunteer

Volunteering for a cause that you believe in also offers a wide array of benefits, and it’s the perfect weekend activity. There are always organizations that are looking for helping hands, and it’s the perfect opportunity for you to meet other likeminded individuals, and it simply helps make you happier.

5 Fun Things to Do Away from Your Kids

Reviews · August 29, 2017

When was the last time you enjoyed a little time to yourself? It is important to take a break every now and then to destress and unwind, which can help you create a happier home-life for your children. We are therefore providing five fun things you can do away from your kids.

  1. Sleep Late

Many parents are often woken during the night to help their children fall back asleep, or are up at the crack of dawn to clean the home, make their child’s breakfast and take the little ones to school. It is therefore important to reward yourself to a well-earned sleep in when you can. Take it in turns with your partner to sleep late, if possible, or allow the kids to sleepover at a grandparent or friend’s house. You will feel better for it.

  1. Socialize with Friends

You are more than just a parent. Take some time away from the cooking, cleaning and caring, and arrange a day or evening to socialize with your friends. Let your hair down to enjoy an evening of dancing and drinking cocktails with friends, or simply arrange a coffee date to catch up with your best pal. You can guarantee you will miss your children whilst you are away, so you will feel even more thankful for your beautiful family once you return home.

  1. Go to an Event

Make the most of a little time away from your children by attending an event, such as a concert, comedy gig, sporting event or theatre production. Dance the evening away by booking tickets to your favourite artist, or allow a musical to capture your heart and imagination. You could even attend a popular sporting event such as horse racing, a tennis tournament or football game. Visit Ticket Sales to find an event you will love.

  1. Book a Spa Day

Bodily tension not only leads to aches and pains, but it can also cause irritability and stress, which could affect your home life. Say goodbye to those daily stresses and treat yourself to a relaxing spa day away from the kids. Indulge in luxury with your partner, friends or by yourself, so you can take a dip in the pool, step inside a refreshing sauna and experience a relaxing massage. You will feel like a brand-new person.

  1. Relax

When was the last time you really relaxed? Ask the grandparents to babysit the children so you can enjoy a few hours of relaxation. Forget about the pile of washing or dirty dishes in the sink, and simply curl up on the sofa to read a book, watch a movie or enjoy a nap. It also provides the perfect opportunity to pamper yourself, so enjoy a relaxing bath, put on a facemask and moisturize your body from head to toe.

How do you relax when the children are away? We would love to read your tips and stories in the comment section below.
