Popular Niches for #Bloggers – How to Build an Online Audience

Reviews · June 10, 2017

Blogging and Vlogging is a hugely popular activity in the 21st century. Millions of people post their thoughts online, hoping to capture the attention of an avid audience. When a blog takes off, it can easily reach tens of thousands of people each day. You can also gain the attention of sponsors, which in time will help boost your revenue. However, if you have never started a blog before, you might be wondering what on earth to write about.

Read on for some suggestions on the most popular categories in the blogosphere. These are in no particular order, so take your pick and choose one that resonates best with your interests. After all, it’s truly painful to have to write about a subject you care nothing about, and if you want your blog to be successful, you need to keep it updated as often as possible!

Music

It should come as no surprise that music blogs are enormously popular. Most people love music of one genre or another. A music blog is a great place to review the latest album releases or create fan blog for your favorite artist. You don’t need to stick to popular music genres. Any type of music will do, from classical to hip-hop and rap. Write posts about the music you love and include lots of visual content. You could even upload videos of you singing along to your favorite tracks!

Fashion

There are loads of fashion blogs online. Fashion is an enduring passion for women, men, and kids. Use your fashion blog to talk about the latest fashion trends, catwalk collections, and your best fashion tips. Fashion blogs need to be image heavy, so take the time to add plenty of high quality photos to your posts, preferably images you have shot yourself.

Personal tips always go down well on a fashion blog. If you have an eye for fashion or you love to create cool vintage looks from garments you make or find in thrift shops, blog about it. Link your blog to social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest. In no time at all, you will have an audience ready and waiting to devour your posts.

Travel

Travel blogging has long been a popular way to post about our travels to far-flung places. What better way to keep family and friends abreast of our amazing adventures. Instead of sending text messages, we can write posts and include images of the places we visit and the wonderful experiences we have along the way. Travel blogs often focus on specific locations, but if you are part-way through a round the world trip on a shoestring, feel free to write about the countries you visit and the sights you see. Just make sure you take lots of photos to enrich your descriptions.

The great thing about a travel blog is that it can help fund your travel. This won’t happen overnight, of course, but once you build an audience, you can monetize your blog and use the money you make to pay for new trips. It’s the modern way to travel!

Wedding

Our wedding day is the best day of our life and, all being well, we only get one bite of the cherry, so we want to make the experience count. Are you planning your dream wedding? If so, start writing a blog and take your readers on an amazing journey from the moment you said “I do” to the day you return from a romantic honeymoon.

Blog about anything wedding related, from the latest wedding dress trends, men’s wedding ring’s to vintage engagement ring settings. As long as it is wedding themed, your readers will love it. You can also invite guest bloggers to contribute content. There is a big market for anything related to weddings, so it will be very easy to find people eager to write posts for your blog.

Parenting

Parents love to share their pain. Having kids is a life-changing experience and once you become a parent, it is only natural that you want to shout out about the good times or the bad times. Mommy blogs are very popular. Millions of parents use their blog as a way of staying sane and connecting with other parents in a similar stage of life. What you write about is up to you, but the best blogs are authentic and populated with useful, informative content.

Write from the heart and be honest about your experiences as a parent. Other parents look out for blogs that resonate with how they are feeling at a particular moment in time. Parenting is immensely rewarding, but never easy, so be honest and tell it how it is. If you have had a bad day and you want nothing more than a large glass of wine, tell your readers. Engage with them when they talk about their own families; you are all on this crazy journey together.

Tech

Are you an expert on tech subjects? Do you spend your free time surfing Amazon for the latest gadgets? If so, a tech blog will be right up your street. Talk about the latest technology and review gadgets. There is a big audience for tech blogs, but technology moves on very quickly, so you need to be willing to keep your blog updated as often as possible. Any technology-related subject will do, so branch out into any tech niche you find interesting.

One of the good things about starting a tech blog is that once you become a well-known blogger, tech companies will invite you to try out their products in return for a review!

Gaming

Are you a gaming fanatic? If so, a gaming blog is a top choice. There is an avid audience for gaming blogs that cover everything in the gaming world, including the latest console and PC game releases to Minecraft mods and hacks to help you level up faster on WoW. Add a range of content to keep your audience coming back. You can choose to specialize in one niche of gaming, for instance MMOs, mobile gaming, or your chosen console platform, or you can cover game news and reviews from all different sectors of the industry.

Local Blogs

A lot of bloggers find great success by creating blogs that focus on their local areas. These can work very well, as you have a very clear target audience. You can write about everything from upcoming local events to reviews of local restaurants and businesses, and you may find that you build up a community quite quickly who are interested in providing more content for you. You can also talk to businesses in the area who may be interested in advertising on your blog or sponsoring you. If you live in a city that already has good local blog coverage, you can consider looking at a specific niche within your local area and focusing on that – for example a blog about local nightlife, or a family oriented local blog.

Fitness

Whether you are really into fitness, or just starting out on a journey to a better body, a fitness blog can be a great way to keep yourself motivated and also share your thoughts on different fitness related products and topics. You can focus on a specific topic, like crossfit, yoga or bodybuilding, or you can cover a broader range of things, but readers do tend to find personal blogs about fitness really inspiring and useful.

Consumer Reviews

A lot of people look to blogs for information before they buy a product, and so having a site where you talk about and review different things you have bought or tried can be a great way to gain an audience. If you are successful and people come to trust your reviews, you may even find that brands want to offer you products to try and write about, meaning you could get some great free stuff! This can be a really good niche to get into if you want to make videos rather than write, too, as review videos can be simple to make and tend to be trusted more than written reviews.

Recipes

If you love cooking, and are always experimenting with new recipes, then having your own food blog can be a great way to keep your recipes together and share them with the world. You can put your favorite family recipes online, post recipes you have discovered while traveling, or create special recipes of your own. Whether you pick a niche such as low fat recipes, vegan food, or cuisine from a specific culture, or you just post the stuff you like to eat, you should find an eager audience looking for new cooking inspiration.

These are just a few of the niches that bloggers tend to do well in. In reality, anything you are passionate about or knowledgeable in can make for a good blog topic, so whether you choose one of these or something entirely different, be sure to enjoy creating content and make your blog as authentic and engaging as you can!

My Day At #Pittsburgh’s Kennywood Amusement Park @Kenny_Kangaroo

Reviews · June 10, 2017

I received free or discounted tickets for the purpose of this review. All opinions and thoughts are 100% my own. I want to thank Kennywood for making our day very memorable.

Are you lucky enough to have an amusement park in the same city or near the same city that you live in? Ever since I could walk and we would come to visit my Grandmother, We would drive down the hill-1/2 mile away and go to Kennywood. I never realized just how lucky I was. My Mom worked there and that is where she met my Dad. I ended up working there as well on the same stand that she worked in. I considered myself very Blessed to say the least.

The above picture shows the entrance to the park. I love all of the historic aspects of this park. Most of the ride buildings have a rustic look to them. Some are brand new but most are older. There was 10 in my party. Yes, I bought the extra tickets as the grand parents and nieces and nephews just had to go also and I was very glad to do this as a great time was had by all. Due to my disability, My riding was limited but I must say that the rides I did go on were the best.

Kennywood, America’s Favorite Traditional Amusement Park since 1898 continues to delight each and every guest with its 31 major rides! Of the many fun things to do in Pennsylvania with kids, nothing can compare to a day of rides, laughs, and excellent food and drinks at Kennywood. Kennywood is also home to some of the best fun events and attractions near Pittsburgh, PA.

Of course I ate at most of the little food booths along our walks and for lunch we decided to grab a burger at Johnny Rockets. It was one of the best burgers I have had in a long, long time. For dinner, I let them eat where they wanted. One went to Bean Sprouts, The other to Mexican and I just had to have their pizza. Everyone raved about the food but that was short lived as there was a lot more riding and games to be done. The weather man was calling for rain today all week but he kept pushing the time it would start off. The last I heard was it was to start to rain around 5 p.m.. Having it rain at Kennywood is not a game changer as there are still a lot to do such as the indoor games, some of the rides undercover, eating at the cafe or even watching a 4D movie in their theater.

I felt like a kid again. They still had all of the games I used to play as a kid. No matter how many times I visit Kennywood Park there still is so much to learn about the history of it. This is where the train ride is very important to me. It tells you all about the history and there are awesome pictures to capture those moments. It almost made me feel like time was standing still. Next year, I want the whole family to go as most all of them are in the area but a few live in the next state over but I know would love to join us. Getting a discount on any ticket helps to not break the bank. Family means everything and we do not get together enough. There is so much to learn about your heritage and I highly recommend doing this before the elders past on. If you do live in the Pittsburgh are, I highly suggest creating some of your very own memories with your family and you must take pictures to look back on. I know you are going to thank me. My 85 year old Father-In-Law said he was just very happy to watch everyone have a good time. It was time for all of us to head home. Well, at least for my family-The others stayed.

Four Ways to Help an Elderly Relative Remain Independent

Reviews · June 6, 2017

Growing old is a natural part of the circle of life, however, for many elderly people, their golden years are tainted with bad health and other issues that come along with aging, which can cause many to start to lose their independence. As the need for more frequent care grows and older people become increasingly unable to do the things that they once enjoyed, it can take a huge toll on their mental health leading to heightened stress levels and even feeling dejected and depressed.

For many families who have an elderly relative, the key to keeping them happy and enabling them to enjoy their old age as much as possible is to help them to retain their independence, such as staying in their own home rather than moving into a care facility, and providing them with as many opportunities as possible to engage in the activities and hobbies that they enjoy. However, for an elderly person who requires a lot of care, achieving this is not always the easiest of tasks. We’ve listed some of the best things that you can do to help your elderly loved one remain independent and live life to the fullest during the precious time that they have left.

#1. Home Health Care:

To make sure that your relative’s immediate needs are met, the best thing that you can do is find a good home health care service, such as that offered by Delray Beach home health care. Rather than moving into a nursing home or other care facility, elderly people can receive the care that they need in the comfort of their own homes, which is often a lot less stressful and unsettling for them since they can remain in an environment that they are familiar with, and keep their privacy at home.

Caregivers and nurses are available 24 hours per day for your relative to call on when they need emergency help, along with regular visits, such as in the morning and evening and during meal-times, when caregivers will be on hand to assist with general tasks, help with taking medication, and support with personal care, for example. Another option is to hire a live-in caregiver; if your relative has a spare room and requires a higher standard of care than average, this could be an ideal situation as they’ll be able to remain as independent as possible whilst you have the peace of mind that comes with knowing somebody is there with them to look out for them.

#2. Encourage Activities and Hobbies:

As people age, it’s not uncommon for them to become more tired and less interested in doing the activities that they once wouldn’t have missed for the world. But, whilst it’s important to respect your relative’s decision to spend more time relaxing at home, they should also be encouraged to take part in other activities, even if it’s only once a month or more infrequently. Simple things such as joining a social group, visiting family and friends, or starting a new, undemanding hobby can be wonderful for an elderly person as long as it is not too much and does not overwhelm them.

Growing old does not just affect us physically; mental health can also be affected therefore it’s important to determine whether your relative is simply tired due to old age, or if they are feeling depressed or anxious. If you are worried that it could be the latter, then it’s important to make sure that they know they are not alone and that you will always be there to support and assist them with the things that they would like to do.

#3. Help with Physical Activity and Healthy Eating:

Even people who were once very active in their younger years can become more and more sedentary as they age. In general, people over the age of 65 can spend up to ten hours per day seated, which in turn can lead to a range of health problems and risks, including a higher risk of obesity, falls, heart disease, and even early death. Because of this, one of the best ways to help keep your elderly relative as independent as possible is to encourage them to stay physically active and look after their health.

For many older people who may already be suffering from health problems and aches or pains, exercise can help, yet it can be difficult for them to do. Thankfully, not all exercise needs to be intense; gentle, short walks, for example, can help to keep your relative active and moving, decreasing their immediate and future health risks. A pet can help with this; dogs make excellent companions for the elderly and since they require walking, will help your relative stay active and healthy. In addition, a healthy diet will give your relative the nutrients that they need for optimal physical and mental health, which will help them to remain independent for as long as possible and get more out of their golden years.

#4. Ask Neighbors and Friends to Help:

When your elderly relative was younger, it was likely the norm for communities to rally together and offer their support. Unfortunately, the modern world is no longer quite the same, however, there are many kind-hearted people out there who will be more than willing to offer their help and support to you and your relative. If they have good neighbors who they get on with well, then it’s a good idea to ask them if they will keep their eye on your relative; perhaps they could visit every once in a while to check up on them and see how they are doing. This will not only offer peace of mind to you as you’ll know that somebody else is also looking out for them, it can be great for your relative since social visits tend to be more few and far between for older people. Having somebody there who occasionally visits for a chat will help their life remain as normal as possible.
