Best Spots To Grab A Healthy Bite In Boston

Reviews · April 21, 2018

The city of Boston is known for many things, one of them being food.  Besides the obvious ones (Boston cream pie, baked beans, clam chowder), Boston is also known for having some of the most delicious and nutritious food on the East Coast.

While cities like Portland may seem more attractive for young and health conscious millennials, Boston is one of the nation’s leading green cities. Boston is actually leading the way in sustainable urban farming initiatives. With over 2,100 green spaces available across the city and plenty of vegan choices, people continue to eat up Boston real estate in search for America’s next leading green city. From plant-based cafes to all-natural juiceries, here are just a few of Boston’s best healthy restaurants.

Dig Inn

800 Boylston St, Boston, MA

Uber-healthy restaurant Dig Inn is so popular in Boston that there are 3 locations in the city alone!  Dig Inn is a favorite for both locals and tourists. The Marketbowls are Dig Inn’s most popular menu items, and feature an array of healthy toppings that you can add, like kale, brown rice, and chickpeas.

Dates & Olives

160 Chestnut Hill Ave, Boston, MA

For Mediterranean food fans, Dates & Olives is about to be your new favorite restaurant.  Dates & Olives uses only the freshest ingredients to ensure you’re getting an authentic Mediterranean experience, and you can really taste the quality in their food.  If you go, make sure to try the sweet and sour eggplant sandwich, a blend of eggplant, red peppers, and cheddar cheese on multigrain bread, served hot or cold.

Veggie Galaxy

450 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA

For vegans and vegetarians, Veggie Galaxy is a must-try.  While the breakfast menu isn’t exactly the healthiest, Veggie Galaxy has an amazing plant-based lunch menu that includes a variety of soups and sandwiches.  The Reuben, a vegan take on a classic reuben sandwich, is pretty much identical to the real thing, and the falafel burger is also a fan favorite.

PRESSED

120 Charles St, Boston, MA

The juice movement has really taken off over the last few years, and Bostonites have really taken to it.  PRESSED is a smoothie and juice bar that also offers different kinds of salads and toasts, all made from fresh and healthy ingredients.  Wheatgrass, dandelion root, and activated charcoal are just a few of the popular “shots” you can choose to add to your smoothie or juice, each one offering unique benefits.  PRESSED truly has its finger on the pulse of what’s hot in the health community.

Great Vacation Destinations Where You Can Teach Kids About History

Reviews · March 27, 2018

It’s always fun to go on family vacations because this is the one time of year you actually get to enjoy the kids without a myriad of interruptions. The job isn’t calling you in for an ‘emergency meeting’ and the kids aren’t hanging out with their friends. You are away from home and the only distractions might be those mobile devices, but if you plan wisely, even those don’t have to be a distraction.

This year, why not plan a family vacation where you can show the kids a bit of history. Make it a learning and fun experience, all at the same time. However, if you don’t want them to rebel, don’t tell them you are trying to teach them something or they’ll hate it even before you leave home! When going abroad with your family, teaching your children about history is essential, this educational travel company can help you do just this. Places such as Rome, Paris and Madrid would be perfect examples of great holiday destinations.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

No serious student of history should ever go through life without a trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Whether you are a history grad student at Norwich University or are simply interested in American history, you’ll love showing your kids where both the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were signed. There are a number of monuments throughout the city that provide a perfect backdrop for family selfies. It’s one city you won’t soon forget.

San Antonio, Texas

“Remember the Alamo!” Who hasn’t heard that famous cry dating back to the early 1800s when Texas was battling for independence from Mexico. Not only did the United States battle for independence from England, but history has it that our forefathers fought for freedom from other nations as well. Wars are won, and wars are lost, but gladly for Texans, this was a victory. Take your kids on a tour of the Alamo and, who knows, you might even want to do your Norwich University Master in History thesis on this period in American History.

Boston, Massachusetts

There is much to see and do in Boston besides that of a historical nature. However, during the ‘learning’ part of your vacation, why not walk the cobblestone Freedom Trail where Paul Revere rode to warn of the impending British invasion. If you have baseball fans in the family, go to a game at Fenway Park, which has a rich history as well. Wouldn’t you like to see, maybe for the first time ever, the ships made famous during the Boston Tea Party?

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

At this point, you may be asking, “What’s so historic about Yellowstone National Park?” While there is the world-famous Old Faithful geyser the kids will thrill at the amazing campgrounds in the area, it is also of a historic nature because Yellowstone was the first officially designated National Park way back in March 1872, and commissioned as such by President Ulysses S. Grant. There are deer, elk, buffalo, and even grizzlies, which can be spotted roaming freely. If you are looking for quality family time away from all the noise and confusion of 21st Century America, this is the historic vacation of a lifetime.

Why not spend an educational vacation with the kids? It sure beats sitting in class learning things they may never truly appreciate unless they’ve seen them.
