National Geographic Kids Books #Review @NGKidsBks

Reviews · February 11, 2020

I Received The Below Mentioned Complimentary Product Either For Free Or A Discounted Price For The Purpose Of This Post. All Opinions And Thoughts Are 100% My Own. This giveaway is sponsored by National Geographic Kids Books.

Valentine’s Day has always been special for me. I like to carry that feeling to the younger generation by giving them small but meaningful gifts that not only educate but expand their minds. I was thrilled when the review opportunity presented itself to review the National Geographic Kids Books which included: We Love Babies! (ages 2-5), Turn it Up!: A Pitch-Perfect History of Music that Rocked the World (ages 8-12) and 1,000 Facts About Dinosaurs, Fossils and Prehistoric Life (ages 8-12).

About The National Geographic Kids Books~

1) We Love Babies! (ages 2-5, National Geographic Kids Books, Hardcover, $17.99)

Love + adorable baby animals = a MUST for Valentine’s Day and baby shower gift giving. This hilarious picture book with rollicking, rhyming text reads like a crowd-pleasing call, pumping up readers’ excitement for the cutest baby animals ever. Illustrated with lively National Geographic photography, We Love Babies! presents furred, feathered, and finned baby animals of all shapes and sizes, celebrating their glorious diversity, from “paws and claws and little flippers” to “feet that look like fuzzy slippers!”. Whimsical cartoon cheerleaders add to the fun, popping up throughout the book to lead fans in the irresistible refrain: “We love babies, yes we do, we love babies, how about you?”

2)  Turn it Up!: A Pitch-Perfect History of Music that Rocked the World (ages 8-12, National Geographic Kids Books, Hardcover, $19.99)

Rock On! The high notes and biggest moments in music history are covered in this big, bright, hardcover- from Bach to the Beatles to Beyonce, and beyond. Many major music genres are playfully explained, from tribal, classical, jazz, folk, opera, rock … all the way to today’s modern forms, such as k-pop, hip-hop, and rap. Instruments and sounds are explored, along with places and events in history that inspired the evolution of music. Kids will also get a sense of music theory, instrumentation, and the artistry of distinctive musical styles. Song recommendations help readers open their ears to what they’ve learned and a rockin’ glossary of musical terms as well as a timeline that plots each genre on its path from ancient history to today make this book one that is bound to top the charts.

3) 1,000 Facts About Dinosaurs, Fossils and Prehistoric Life (ages 8-12, National Geographic Kids Books, Hardcover, $14.99)

T. rex, triceratops, pterosaurs, saber-toothed cats! This eye-catching, comprehensive, and “browsable” title is jam-packed with 1,000 fascinating facts about what these prehistoric creatures looked like, how they lived, and the evidence they left behind. Uncover amazing fossil facts about the first four-legged creatures; find out what it’s like to be on a dinosaur dig; and marvel at some of the fiercest, most fascinating claws and teeth. Learn how dinosaurs and birds are connected, find out the biggest prehistoric mysteries that scientists are still trying to crack, and sink your teeth into some seriously supersize dino stats.

My Review/Thoughts~

The National Geographic Kids Books have made such a difference in my household. My older kids have read all 3 books and even read books 2 and 3 to my younger kids. They have been taking care of each other which puts a smile in my heart. I even read my youngest book and I loved everything about it. Everyone in my house loves anything National Geographic. My kids were over the moon to find that there is a Kids National Geographic just for them. They could have not been happier. As a Mom, I could not have been happier to have them fall in love with something that is educational for them.

Things to Do Instead of Spending Money

Reviews · May 10, 2018

We live in a society which very much encourages you to spend, spend, spend. However, most of us are not millionaires, and falling into this consumerist trap is going to cost us in the long-run.

If you already find that you are in debt, you could always look into debtconsolidation.co to help clear it. But when you get back into positive habits, you need some ideas of how you are going to fill your time other than spending hours checking social media or binge-watching the next big TV show. So, in this article, we are going to give you some inspiration for some free activities.

Read a Book

If you have a whole shelf of books which you have been meaning to read but you haven’t got round to it yet, now is the time to start working your way through them. Otherwise, you could look into joining your local library or swapping books with your friends or relatives. There are so many ideas and stories out there just waiting to be discovered.

Go for a Walk

There is nothing more clearing for your head than going out on a nice walk. So, choose one of your favourite spots – or alternatively, explore somewhere that you have never been before. Not only will you be keeping yourself entertained, you will also be helping to keep yourself in good physical shape which is always a bonus!

Cook a Meal with Your Existing Ingredients

Most people tend to end up with all sorts of things in their cupboards that they never get round to using, so why not try cooking a meal with your existing ingredients? There are even apps and websites out there which can give you inspiration for things that you can cook with what you already have. It is always nice to have a new meal which you can add to your cooking repertoire!

Start a Journal

Keeping a journal is one of the most valuable things that you can create which is going to last you for years to come. So, dust off an old notebook and start writing about your experiences. Not only will this practice help you to discover new things about yourself, it will also help to strengthen your memories.

Volunteer Your Time

There are all sorts of organisations and charities crying out for volunteers, so choose something that you are passionate about and start spending your time this way. Not only will you be able to spend as much time as you would like doing this, you also get the positive buzz from doing that you are doing something good.

Invite Friends and Family Over

Even though there are more ways than ever to stay in touch with people, you can’t beat face-to-face interaction. So, why not invite your friends or family over for a drink and a chat. As well as not having to spend money, you are also helping to boost your mood by spending time with people that you care about.

Everything You Need to Create a Cosy Reading Nook

Reviews · October 26, 2017

Nowadays our lives are so busy and stressful, we find ourselves constantly on the go, always under pressure and never getting a second to relax. We check our phones first thing in the morning, and we’re still checking notifications as we get in bed that night. Our lives never stop. This kind of constant stress and pressure can lead to physical and mental health problems, stress, anxiety and a feeling of never being good enough. This means that it’s more important than ever that we take a little time out for ourselves when we get chance.

Adding a reading nook to your home can give your tranquil and calming place to relax, unwind and forget about your problems for a while. This can help you to sleep better, put things into perspective and help you avoid burn-out. Here’s a look at everything that you need to create your cosy reading nook.

Space

The first thing to consider is where you want to build your reading nook. All you need is an unused corner of your home. It could be in your bedroom or dining room, away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen or lounge. Just make sure it’s somewhere you can relax and be comfortable.

Shelving

Your reading nook will need some shelving to keep all of your books. If you are short on space, either opt for some clever storage ideas or just include some of your favourites. However, if possible, surrounding yourself with books can be a fantastic way to unwind and encourage a relaxing atmosphere.

Books

If there is one thing that your reading nook needs above all else, it’s books! Use this as an excuse to go shopping. Search for some classics and special editions to perfect your collection.

Comfort

Your reading nook needs to be comfortable. Check out Warm Rooms for some radiators to fit your space, add plenty of soft furnishings to create a comfortable atmosphere and then consider seating. Think about the area that you’re working with. Do you have room for a small sofa or comfy chair? If so, go for it. Test some out to make sure they feel just right. If you are working with a smaller area, look at window seats and beanbags.

Lighting

Your reading nook needs lighting. Especially if you are using a partition of some kind to separate it from the rest of the room. Look for bright standing lamps which offer focused ambient lighting so that you can read late into the night.

A Table

You’ll need a table, so you’ve got somewhere for a hot drink or a glass of wine. You could even use it as somewhere to put your feet up or make some notes. It doesn’t need to be large; a small side table would do. You could even upcycle your own to add a touch of personality.

Finishing Touches

To add some of your style to your reading nook, bring in some influences from the rest of your home. Add artwork, photos, a curtain, candles and anything else that helps you to relax.

A reading nook can add a valuable space which can enrich your life and increase your enjoyment of your home massively.
