Tech is about to get cheaper on Black Friday!

2019 Holiday Gift Guide, Reviews · November 19, 2019

When I first started blogging, I was in need of a fast responsive laptop and that was 12 years ago. I searched online, in stores and asked my friends which one I should get. The answers were all the same-That they were very expensive. Luckily it was time for Black Friday and I searched the circulars but nothing for what I was looking for but Best Buy had something similar. As we gathered to make our rounds to stores on Black Friday, I wanted to stop at Best Buy. I was so very impressed with the deals they offered that I bought my perfect laptop. They had deals on everything tech. If only I could buy it all.

Ever since my first Black Friday visit to Best Buy, I have been back every year since then. I go with a group of which is included my aunts and cousins. We start at 2 a.m. and pick everyone up in a huge van. We stop and get lots of coffee, donuts and snacks. We are then in the parking lot of our first store by 3 a.m. because we want to be one of the first people in the store. At least that is how we used to do it as a lot of stores now open late on Thanksgiving Day. I have said this before but I feel Thanksgiving Day is for family. Then again, Once dinner is done-What is the harm of doing a little shopping and take advantage of some of the great deals that are being offered.

I do know that some stores have a big tech product for an awesome price. What they don’t tell you is that they may have 2 or 3 of them. That is not Best Buy’s practice. They have a back room that is over flowing with product. We now get all of our tech and appliances from Best Buy because I am telling you from experience that Best Buy does have the best prices and the best selection of their products.

It struck me as funny that most of the customers that are in Best Buy as like humans. They do not act like wild animals and fight to get what they want as these people are usually repeat customers. So, They know that their is more than enough products to go around. Even it it is advertised that their top product only has 2 of them, They still act civilized. There was only one time that when people were waiting for the doors to open that there was way to much pushing and shoving to get into the store. That time made me feel a little uneasy.

I remember one Black Friday where we bought a 50 inch t.v. for $150. Can you beleive it. Best Buy does things like this. I get all my laptops, camera accessories and appliances from Best Buy. Be it Black Friday or not, They do have the best prices on anything tech. I highly suggest you include Best Buy in your Black Friday shopping.

Low prices get even lower on Black Friday 2019!

2019 Holiday Gift Guide, Reviews · November 19, 2019

Black Friday is a big deal in my home for over 15 years. I never knew just how much you could save until I started doing my homework. The results are that I found that I could save the most at Walmart. I have been receiving their daily emails for probably a few years now. They start sending out their email with some Black Friday deals the beginning of November.

Black Friday shopping brings back fond memories of waiting in the parking lot until they opened the store. We would get their at 3 a.m., What a wait but now they are open on Thanksgiving Day at 6 p.m.. I am not sure how I feel about that as I do beleive that Thanksgiving is for families. I mean there are only a few stores that are open on Thanksgiving. I have to weigh the deals and saving money over my thoughts.

I am a firm believer in that Walmart has the best prices and the best selection of their products over any other store I have shopped at. When I was younger, I remember going to one department store on Black Friday and it was a mad house. I was scared to death. You would of thought they were giving away something big for free. People were grabbing at things and throwing clothes everywhere. It got to the point that you didn’t dare look for a certain color as you were lucky just to get the item.

I used to go Black Friday shopping with my aunts and cousins. We would make a day of it with our day starting at 2 a.m. and by the time we picked everyone up, We were in the parking lot by 3 a.m.. We were not alone though as the parking lot was already packed full of cars, suvs and pick up trucks. We had already bought our coffee, donuts and snacks and  settled down to wait until the doors opened. and wait and wait and finally we got to go inside. One thing I do is research the site and circulars to get some ideas of what kind of gifts would make someones christmas. I have a christmas gift list with people’s names on it and next to their names is an idea of what they want or need for christmas. I have done it this for years and it seems to work well for me. You need to find a way that works well for you. Having an idea of what you are looking really cuts down on the ciaos.

Think big. Walmart has the best prices on such things as T.V.’s, Kitchen appliances and Kids toys. I am a firm believer in having a plan and sticking to it. Your day will go much smoothly if you do. I would leave the kids at home though because their christmas gift you will find at Walmart as well as others christmas gift. Shopping on Black Friday is all that it cracked up to be.

Four Ways to Get Gifts on a Budget This Christmas

Reviews · November 18, 2019

It’s no secret that people tend to overspend a little bit over the festive season. And, most years, the average American will plan to spend over $600 on gifts. Unless you’ve been putting money aside all year round for the sole purpose of treating your family and friends this Christmas, monitoring your spending and sticking to a budget is a sensible idea. In fact, even if you have money saved up for the purpose of gifts, a good budget and spending plan can help it stretch further. Here are some ideas to help you keep your spending under control this Christmas.

#1. Stick to a Gift Budget:

It can be all too tempting to spend a lot on that special person in your life, like your child, partner or parent – but that might leave you with precious little to get gifts for everybody else. That’s why it’s so important to stick to a gift budget. Look at the amount of money that you have available to spend on gifts and determine how much you would like to spend on each recipient before choosing what to buy for them. Having a budget in mind will help you stay within your limits and afford to get everybody a gift they will love.

#2. DIY:

If you’re on a tight budget this Christmas, then don’t worry – often, carefully thought out, homemade gifts can be even more meaningful and special than the ones you’d buy in the store, and the best part is that they can easily be the best gift you give somebody this year without having to overspend. If you’re a creative kind of person, there are loads of gift ideas you can make on a budget – photo scrapbooks, knitted accessories, paintings, or even home-baked goods are all welcome underneath Christmas trees, and the thought and effort you’ve put into making a unique gift will be more appreciated than any money you’ve spent.

#3. Check Out Outlet Stores:

It’s not uncommon to be handed a Christmas list by a relative or friend with items that are pretty expensive on there. Perfume or cologne, for example, is a common item on Christmas wish lists and makes a lovely gift, but getting a high-quality one with a scent the recipient will love can come at a hefty price. So, before you hit the shops, check out online outlet stores like this beauty outlet where you can find fragrances and much more at a price you’ll love.

#4. Get Discount Codes:

Finally, shopping online for your Christmas gifts is a fantastic idea for many different reasons. You can get all the gifts you need from the comfort of your own home, avoiding going out into the cold and the crowded stores. But Christmas shopping online can also be a great way to save money too. Before you start shopping, it’s worth conducting a quick search for any discount and voucher codes that you can use to get some money off your basket. Look out for newsletter offers, too – some stores will give you a discount just for signing up to updates.

How do you plan to save money on Christmas gifts this year?

How Apartment Redevelopment Can Help Improve Entire Communities

Reviews · November 14, 2019

There has been a lot of heated discussions lately about affordable housing and community redevelopment. Something that many people may not be considering, however, is how redevelopment can affect the greater community. To better understand how redevelopment can impact residents and the surrounding communities, consider these benefits of improved housing.

Community Engagement

Creating a community by involving all stakeholders in a redevelopment project can have impacts that reach far beyond the residents and landlord. A redevelopment project can engage communities and their members to advocate for their needs, get involved with their neighbors, and build a sense of true community.

Mixed-use spaces create jobs and retail opportunities for neighborhoods. Adding housing to previously underutilized commercial or industrial buildings can revitalize downtown areas and create exciting opportunities to attract younger families to graying districts.

Increased Access To Transportation

If you look at a city like Los Angeles, it is easy to see the lack of affordable housing. LA-based Steven Taylor of Taylor Equities points to new Metro stops that can increase access to transportation for many apartment dwellers. but, that may link them to more than transportation. This can also open up job opportunities, which can increase the financial standing of residents in communities near those new stops. Increased access to public transportation may make reaching doctors, schools, and community services easier and more affordable.

Accessible Food Choices

Many low-density urban areas are considered food deserts, with little or no access to grocery stores or supercenters. That leaves the residents in these food deserts with few options for affordable healthy, fresh food options. Poor nutrition can lead to negative health outcomes like malnutrition, obesity, and higher risk for chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes.

Redevelopment projects that incorporate increased access to transportation and food, as well as generate community engagement, can help revitalize more than a building. They can help breathe new life into entire communities.
