Products, like money, make the world go round. There are physical solutions to any problem almost imaginable!
And that goes for looking after the home. Cleaning, organization and general maintenance are incredibly important, no matter if you are renting your house or are a homeowner yourself. Of course, some of the responsibility for maintenance might fall to your landlord if you are renting a property, but it’s good to be knowledgeable about maintenance, even if you aren’t doing it!
Let’s start off with cleaning. Cleaning is an incredibly important part of maintenance in the home, and it needs to be done on a recurring basis. While your determination and consistency is perhaps the key tool you’ll need when cleaning the home; there’s still plenty of items and products you’ll need. Vacuum cleaners, brooms, a dustpan & brush, and a mop with a bucket will help you start off. Deodorizing sprays and deodorant dust can help your floors and air stay clean; bleaches will remove tough stains and assist with cleaning your bathroom products. Anti-bacterial sprays are great if you have pets. Of course, these heavy-duty products are dangerous and need to be kept away from kids! Polish and polishing cloths help a lot as well as you can clean your mirrors and windows and keep them looking fresh! As important as the products are, you need to be determined to use them and use them often to keep your house clean.
Maintenance is a whole different ball-game. It still requires you to be super pro-active, but you’ll need a lot of things. Hammers, screwdrivers, drills and saws are good to have initially and can help you not only fix and repair issues, but improve your home! Being proactive is key with home maintenance and usually, requires you to get the products in before the problems occur. If you notice an issue in the home that you don’t have the correct tool or products for, you need to purchase them to solve the issue. To identify the correct tool, you’ll also need to do your research, but there are plenty of sources out there that will help – like the internet! Homes can have unique issues as well – colder environments might require you to buy heat tape for water pipes and houses with lots of guttering will ask that you buy a ladder so you can get up there and clean it all out. It’s all about knowing your home and the maintenance issues that it faces.
In terms of organization, the products you need the most are furniture. Wardrobes, Bookcases, stands and drawers are the key foundation of the organization in the home. However, you can get smaller items to expand the home’s organization capabilities. Magazine racks, pencil cases, holders – smaller items that hold specific items are good! Organization is an issue of home order where you can be really creative, as the other two follow stricter regimes.
All it takes is the right items and the right mindset to keep your home in good order!
