Reviews · November 2, 2017

I received the below mentioned complimentary product either for free or at a discounted rate. Whether or not you agree, My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Do you have a favorite shoe/boot brand? What a silly question you might ask but when you find a shoe/boot brand that you fall in love with, You just stick with it. I mean it it’s not broke, Then fix it. I was thrilled when the opportunity came about to review the Lugz Women’s Drifter Fleece XL boot. This would make the perfect Holiday gift for anyone on your list.About Lugz~

COMPANY BACKGROUND

Always an innovator and leader in footwear, Lugz first made a name for itself in October of 1993, bringing its first line of boots to market, with the initial product consisting of two styles of boots, a quilted vest and a pair of jeans.

Soon Lugz was endorsed by key players from the world of hip hop and has continued to do so through out the years. One such collaboration led Lugz to breathe life to a whole new category of footwear with the introduction of the first ever celebrity-endorsed “Funk Master Flex” urban driving shoe. This was only the beginning as support then lead to a collaborative line with hip-hop superstar Bryan “Baby” Williams, aka “Birdman” with his own series of sneakers and boots.

In 2006 Orange County Choppers, the world’s premier builders of custom motorcycles signed on to endorse Lugz shoes, which they were already wearing so it was a natural fit. With its aggressive “built for the streets” reputation Lugz collaborated with Paul Teutul, Jr. to create a signature Lugz shoe “the Torx” which interpreted this incredibly well.

In the fall of 2008 Lugz shot on to the Mixed Martial Arts scene signing its first two MMA fighters, Lyoto Machida and Houston Alexander as endorsers. Machida captured the title of UFC Light Heavyweight Champion as he represented Lugz. With MMA becoming the fastest growing sport/entertainment platform with an increasingly growing fan base, Lugz was excited to be apart of this growing trend and later signed Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. In 2010 Cain Velasquez became the newest endorser of Lugz.; immediately after signing, Cain fought to become UFC World Heavyweight Champion. In 2011, Lugz continued to grow its Team – signing UFC Welterweight Josh Koscheck and UFC Light Heavyweight Phil Davis.

From its inception, Lugz footwear has been an innovator in the footwear market from its signature styles, to creating trendsetting styles beyond boots and has added casual shoes and athletics to the mix for the Lugz men, Lugz women and Lugz kids lines.

My Thoughts/Review~

So I have started walking as I want to shed a few pounds(don’t we all). Walking in the winter is not very feasible if you do not have the right footwear. We just had our first snow fall which I loved and when I went outside to walk-I put on my new Women’s Drifter Fleece XL, Took my first step and thought “I am in love!”. How could a boot be like walking on air? How could a boot give me this much support? How cold a boot give me this much comfort? I am here to tell you that it does all of this and so much more. If I had to chose just one thing that I love about these boots- I could not as I love everything about them. These would make the perfect gift for the special women on your list.

I give these boots my highest recommendation and my thumbs up.

My Review/Thoughts~

The Lugz Drifter 6 ST WIDE is by far the most comfortable boot my husband has ever worn. His words not mine. I can also tell you from experience that the material the shoes are made out of can with stand chemicals as my husband used to work for a major carpet cleaning company where he would have to buy new boots every 2 to 3 months but with Lugz boots- He would have to replace them every 9 months to a year. You not only get comfort but you get cost savings all wrapped up in one. I’d say that is a win-win in my book.

I give this product my thumbs up and I highly recommend it as a Holiday gift or an everyday gift.

When You Should and Shouldn’t Cut or Color Your Own Hair

Reviews · November 2, 2017

Learning how to cut and color your own hair can be a tempting way to save a lot of money, and can also be a good option if you hate going to the salon. However, there are some times when you really shouldn’t try things at home, whether for the health or your hair or because they are very tricky to do if you are not experienced.

Here are the times when you can normally safely try cutting or coloring at home:

Trims and Bangs

If you have bangs, you will probably find they grow too long more regularly than you want to visit a hairdresser. This is certainly something you can learn to maintain yourself, and there are lots of tutorials on the web that can help you do a good job of it.

For trimming hair in general to keep it in good condition, you can also (depending on your style) often do this yourself using tutorials from the web, as you are not altering the style or cutting away much length.

Temporary Colors

Temporary hair colors tend to be gentle to the hair, and do not contain things like peroxide and ammonia like many permanent or hair lightening dyes do. If you want to try something new, such as some of the great styles at mynewhairstyles.net, without too much commitment or any hair damage, it is normally safe to do this at home. However, do ensure you do the allergy tests recommended by the manufacturer. You can develop allergies suddenly, so this is important even if you have used the same dye before.

Darker Permanent Colors and Root Touch Ups

Darker colors are kinder to your hair than lighter ones, so as long as you follow the instructions you can generally do these effectively by yourself. Be sure to wear the gloves as these will stain your hands and also use an old towel rather than one you wouldn’t want to get stained! This can be a cheap and easy way to cover grey hair or to get a subtly different look.

Of course, while there are products available to do just about anything to your hair at home, here are some things you shouldn’t try unless you are experienced and willing to take some risks with your hair:

Bleaching and Highlighting

Any kind of lightening product will cause damage to your hair, so this process is best overseen by a professional. A professional will also be able to use the right sort of toner to stop your lightened hair looking brassy.

Perms

Perming your hair is not only damaging, it is also very hard to do to yourself, so always go to a salon for this.

Significant Changes in Length

Cutting your hair in a significantly different way is hard to do on yourself, even for professional hair stylists. This is because it is difficult to see and access the hair at the back, so you can end up with a very uneven cut.

If you are tempted to go for a change you have never tried on yourself before, it is always better to go to a salon. For maintenance and temporary changes, however, it can be a good money saver to learn how to do it yourself.

Great sleep sets couples up for success!

Why Does Netflix Cancel Popular Shows?

Reviews · November 1, 2017

Netflix is a hugely popular streaming provider. It began life as a service where subscribers could rent DVDs, but it has begun creating its own original content – to rave reviews and critical acclaim. Back in 2013, Netflix was the first streaming TV company to win an Emmy award. House of Cards picked up an Emmy for Best Direction. Netflix also won an Emmy for comedy writing (Master of None), which is a sign that the streaming giants are pulling out all the stops to create content audiences love.

But despite the big bucks Netflix poured into the creation of original content, Netflix sometimes cancels series at the height of their popularity. So, why does this happen and what is really going on behind the scenes?

As Netflixguides.com has recently revealed, season four of The Following has been cancelled, but it isn’t the first show to be axed by Netflix. Other shows axed include Sense8, Bloodline, Hemlock Grove, Marco Polo, and Longmire. Some drop off Netflix with barely a murmur, but in the case of Sense8, the news that the ground-breaking series would not be renewed by Netflix caused a storm on social media, especially given it ended on a cliff-hanger!

It’s All About Money

Money is usually to blame when a series is cancelled. Netflix original content costs money to produce. Some shows have huge budgets, but if audience numbers are dwindling, which was the case with The Following, the numbers no longer add up.

Netflix’s core audience is in the 18-45 demographic. These are the people most susceptible to advertising, so if a show is losing its audience or the audience is in an older demographic, advertising revenue will take a tumble. Advertising revenue pays the bills. It’s a simple case of double-entry bookkeeping. Sense8 was filmed in 16 cities in 13 different countries around the world. It featured amazing special effects and huge set pieces with hundreds of people. By anyone’s standards, Sense8 was a big-budget production.

Pushing Boundaries

It pushed boundaries and attracted a core group of fans, which is why there was an outcry when the show was cancelled. Unfortunately, no amount of popularity can save a show if the advertising revenue doesn’t cover the production budget. This was the case with Sense8, although the show’s producers have since announced a two-hour special will be screened in the New Year, to tie up loose ends and give fans a finale they deserve.

Media Storm

Money isn’t always the reason why a show is canned. The recent media storm over allegations made against Kevin Spacey has prompted Netflix to cancel their award-winning show, House of Cards. Fans will be disappointed, but in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, it is a sign that the movie and TV industry is trying to clean up its act and show some remorse for turning a blind eye for many years.

In the meantime, we can still look forward to watching Stranger Things and other wonderful series on Netflix, so grab some popcorn and settle down for a binge.
