Getting Inked Abroad: Top 4 Places for that Exotic Tattoo

Reviews · September 28, 2018

There was a time when getting a tattoo was not as easy as it is today, because there just weren’t enough people around with the skill or the tools to do it properly. While that is no longer the situation today, thanks to an abundance of tattoo parlors everywhere, there’s still something authentic and special about getting tattooed while traveling through foreign lands. Just in case you are planning a trip to any of the following four places, it might be time to finally consider getting that tattoo you have always wanted to.

Japan

It is probably not a surprise to anyone that Japan is the first one on this list because the Japanese have an ancient and rich history in tattoo artistry. If you are going to visit Japan any time in the near future, consider getting a traditional Ukiyo-e print or a horimono done. These tattoos with ancient symbolism and based on folklore are a better idea than getting random Japanese letters inked onto your body without being absolutely sure what they mean!

Thailand

The west got a taste of ancient Thai tattoos when Angelina began to sport two Sak Yants on her back more than 14 years ago. These are the tattoos that you will find on all Muay Thai boxers because starting from the ancient days till date, they are supposed to provide protection, luck, power, and courage to the bearer, depending on the particular text and design. If you are on a vacation in the country, quality tattoo shops Thailand should be able to help you find the right design by acting as both interpreter and tattooist.

London, UK

The United Kingdom might not have been the first to adopt tattoos, but it certainly has a very high number of inked citizens. In fact, the roots of English/Scottish/Irish tattoos are more than 400-years old at this point, with the first of their kind dating back to the early 1600s. As London was specifically mentioned here, you can probably guess that this is the place to get your tattoo if you are in the region, and for good reason. Not only is London always a great place to get a tattoo, it becomes a particularly electric atmosphere for getting inked during the The London Tattoo Convention where artists from all around the UK and the entire world come and show off their craft.

China

In spite of being the ancient birthplace of Asian tattoos, China was until recently, not a place to get a tattoo from because it was prohibited by modern Chinese tradition and looked down upon. Social discrimination is still a possibility if you get a tattoo in China, but then again, you are just visiting! Beyond all the stigma and the negative associations, China has the most ancient history of tattoo artistry in existence, predated only by that of the ancient Egyptian civilizations that are now lost in time.

Before you get a tattoo though, there are a few points to keep in mind, which are hygiene, meaning, and relevance, in that order. It’s a lifetime commitment and there are health risks involved if you are not careful, so never get inked unless you are sure of everything first.

5 Easy Ways to Make a Small Room Look Much Bigger

Reviews · September 27, 2018

Featuring short ceilings and a lack of open space, small rooms are notoriously difficult to decorate and even harder to effectively use. Thankfully, there are a few tips and tricks that can revolutionize your tiny rooms and make them seem much larger, open and fresh than before. These range from classic, time-proven strategies to some modern, out-of-the-box ideas that you can easily apply. By following these 5 simple steps, you’ll be on the right path to make the most out of any small room so without further ado, let’s take a look!

1 – Tone Down the Amount of Furniture

Furniture takes a lot of space and if they’re intricately detailed to boot, the effect is even more noticeable. By only choosing a couple of essential, gorgeous and preferably minimally detailed pieces, you can save a huge amount of space and have just as much usability as before. Remove anything that isn’t absolutely essential and stick with the key pieces that make the room – keep it simple! There’s also one nifty trick that goes hand in hand with this one, which is the next point:

2 – Use Hidden Storage

Incredibly effective and offering the best of both worlds, furniture with hidden storage can be an absolute lifesaver in tiny rooms. From sofas and benches that have a hidden storage compartment at the base to the classic table with shelves combo and even sofa-beds, they’ll look great and act as a decorative boost as well as allowing you to store any items you need discreetly without the need to have those bulky pieces of furniture that only serve for storage. If your walls allow it, pop-out tables and in-the-wall cabinets are also a fantastic way to save space.

3 – Get Lots of Light and Light Colors

By having a lot of light in the room – be it natural or artificial – there will be less shadows and less dark spaces which creates the illusion of more openness and a larger area. You can do this by using more potent light sources than the usual and by increasing the number of light sources as well – lower ones such as lamps are even better than ceiling fixtures to create the effect. Light colors on the walls, furniture and decor are also a must as they make any space look much bigger, clean and breathable than what it is. You can go for light pinks, light yellows and even very light blues but the best one is the classic white.

4 – Use Mirrors Everywhere!

One of the most popular ways to enlarge a room, mirrors are possibly the most effective strategy for anyone that wants to turn a tiny space into a seemingly large one. Their reflections of both light and the room surfaces are a stunningly potent combination that makes a compact space look super open and if used often it can double or triple the perceived amount of space! While classic wall mirrors are a good start, the most effective ones are the big and powerful full length floor ones. The best part is that you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy their effect as there are some truly excellent cheap floor mirrors for sale.

5 – Harness the Power of Stripes

It works just as well in rooms as it does in clothing – stripes can heavily alter our perception of surfaces to make them look much more elongated than what they truly are. You can be creative with this concept and go wild but keep in mind to get the right direction of stripes (horizontal or vertical) for the surface. From a simple striped rug to vertically striped wallpaper (which makes the ceiling look much taller), the options are endless and all of them unbelievably effective.

One Final Word

All of these nifty, easy-to-do tricks complement each other beautifully well and if applied to a tiny room, they will dramatically alter its appearance and make it look immensely larger. I’ve used these countless times myself and I’m always stunned by the results, their beautiful simplicity is part of their effectiveness. Now there’s no excuse not to enjoy your small rooms so get out there and start decorating – you’ll thank me later!

Unusual Gift Ideas For Everyone

Reviews · September 26, 2018

Buying someone a present can certainly be a fun-filled process. The anticipation of the person’s reaction when receiving their gift is exciting. Not only that but knowing that you are going to make them happy is assured to be a great feeling. However, unfortunately, it is not always that straightforward, as buying a gift can be a difficult challenge, to say the least.

It is often hard to find the balance between buying a unique gift that you know is something the person would not expect and a gift which you know will make a good impression and that the person receiving it will love. You need to think of unusual gift ideas which are not too risky. After all, you don’t want your present to make an impression for all the wrong reasons.

Personal gifts

One of the best ways to make a gift unusual is to make it personal. Personal gifts are unique to you and your relationship with the person you are buying for. There are a whole host of ways in which you can make a personal present. One of the best and most popular options is to go for a photo frame with a personal photograph inside. Or alternatively, you could buy a scrapbook and fill it with memories, through the usage of photographs and other collectibles that you can stick in. This will take a lot of effort however it is assured to touch the heart of the person receiving it as it shows how much consideration, effort, and time you have put in.

Nevertheless, photograph-based presents are not the only way to make a gift unusual and personal. Another option is to think of a piece of jewelry that is adorned with a pendant or a charm which means something to the person. For instance, if the person you are buying for is an animal lover then why not incorporate this in the jewelry? If the person is particularly special to you and it is a milestone birthday, then one of the best ideas is to buy a charm bracelet and fill it with special charms which represent memorable occasions and your relationship with the person.

Gift bags, hampers, and boxes

If neither of these suggestions appeals to you then one of the best unusual gift ideas to opt for is to buy a beautiful gift box and fill it with an array of carefully selected small presents. This is an especially attractive option if you are struggling when it comes to deciding what to buy. You can fill the box with an array of goods which will contribute to the perfect night in, such as; candles, bath oils, chocolates, face masks, wine, and a DVD. This shows that you have put care into ensuring that the person you are buying for has an evening solely dedicated to relaxing and pampering themselves. Of course, you could go for a John Henric toiletries bag and fill it with creams and other skincare items, or you could go for a hamper and fill it with food or drink. The options are endless.

The ideas in this blog post will hopefully have helped you when it comes to finding a great unusual present for your friend, partner or family member. Good luck!

7 Ways To Keep Looking Youthful

Reviews · September 26, 2018

Aging is something that we all have to go through, but for many, it’s something to be worried about – even dreaded. It can cause a lot of anxiety and problems, which, ironically, can cause aging to happen even faster. When you add in the pollution that is all around us and our own DNA as well, aging will happen to us all. However, there are some things that can be done in our daily lives to reduce the effects of aging and to keep us looking younger for longer. If this is something you would like to achieve, continue reading to find out how.

Keep A Steady Weight

Keeping a steady weight is one of the simplest ways to maintain a youthful appearance. Fluctuating weight with lots of gains and losses can take its toll on our looks and especially our skin which can lose its elasticity over time, causing wrinkles. If you can keep your weight steady for as much of the time as possible, the aging effect will be much less. One way to do this is to cut down how much you eat during your three main meals, and instead have five smaller meals throughout the day. Your metabolism will get more of a boost and will work more efficiently this way.

You can also try drinking a large glass of water before each meal. You will feel full up sooner, and therefore you will be tempted to each less. If you are still hungry later on, ensure you have some healthy snacks in the house to eat.

Use Sunscreen

Something that can make us look a lot older than we really are is the UV rays from the sun. These dangerous rays can cause age spots and wrinkles, so it’s important to wear sunscreen every time you go outside, no matter what the weather or time of year. Although we may think about it more when it is bright and sunny, and the temperature is high, the sun’s rays can penetrate even on the haziest of days, and since they can cause skin cancer as well as more rapid aging, it’s essential to protect yourself from them wherever possible.

Positive Thinking

It’s incredible how much our physical body responds to our thought processes. The more positive your outlook, the ‘sunnier’ your disposition will be, and that will show on your face. If you constantly feel down and sad, always thinking the worst, this will show too and will make you feel and look older than you are. Something that can cause problems when we are trying to think more positively are general aches and pains which not only remind us of the aging process but also make it hard to be totally happy. If this is the problem for you, you can use CBD oil from Highland Pharms to reduce those aches and pains.

Positive thinking can be a difficult habit to get into for some, although for others it is their natural way of being. If you find that you are negative more than you are positive, then you will need to work out the best way for you to change this perception of the world. It will take practice, but with some mindfulness exercises, meditation, and taking some time out from life to really focus on what is good it is certainly possible, and well worth it if you feel that you want to look younger.

Exfoliate

Your skin is a hugely important organ, and when it comes to reducing the signs of aging, this is where you need to focus. Exfoliation is a good place to start, and this will help your appearance stay more youthful – when you exfoliate your skin should become soft and even glow. The process reduces fine lines and wrinkles and prevents your pores from becoming blocked, which helps to stop acne as well; it also prevents an uneven skin tone.

Hydration

When your skin is dry it will look older – softer skin always looks more youthful. Therefore, ensuring proper hydration and moisturizing your skin is a good idea, and can easily become part of your general daily beauty regimen. You can physically moisturize your skin using specially designed creams, for example, morning and night. There are many different types available, so even if some make your skin feel uncomfortable, there will be others – perhaps more natural varieties – that make it feel wonderful.

Drinking enough water is enough good way to keep your skin (and the rest of your body) hydrated. The more water you drink, the better able your body is to complete the functions it needs to remain healthy; the healthier you are, the younger you look.

Exercise

Exercise is crucial in life for so many different reasons. It helps you to reduce (and maintain) your weight, for example, which we’ve already noted is a great way to stay looking younger for longer. It also helps when it comes to positive thinking because the endorphins that are released during exercise make you feel instantly happy and capable of anything you put your mind to. Finally, exercise will help to reduce your stress levels by combatting the ‘stress hormones’ such as cortisol that is in your body. The more stressed you are, the older you will look, so reducing your stress is a good idea.

Better Sleep

Beauty sleep may sound like a myth, but there is some truth in the idea. Getting a good night’s sleep regularly will help to make you look younger. It will do so many things for you including giving you more energy (so that you feel younger, which will show outwardly in your appearance), help you to maintain your weight, keep you feeling positive, and it will help when it comes to your health as well. Lack of sleep has been shown to have a negative effect on your health, causing type II diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease amongst other things. The better quality of sleep you have, the better you will feel and the younger you will look.
