Choose Your Adventure Movies

Reviews · May 30, 2019

The age of information has provided citizens with an endless amount of options when it comes to being entertained. Many children have reduced play time outside to interact with friends through screens and other remote experiences. After a long day at work, various adults hit the couch and continue binge-watching classic shows. With the internet being available virtually everywhere in the United States, it is difficult to reach a state of boredom. With this being so, streaming giants such as Netflix have taken liberty in completely changing users view content. Last winter, a choose your adventure movie was released on this platform and received critical acclaim. Since this movie was successful, Netflix is planning on releasing more choose your adventure styled content down the line. For film producers such as David Guillod, these developments may change how Hollywood does business.

Choose Your Adventure – Theatrical Releases

Bandersnatch is a film with over one trillion possible scenarios available at your fingertips. Many people have viewed this film countless times to create a flow chart of the endless possibilities present in this movie. For the casual television viewer, seeing this film more than once may not be appealing. However, since this film was available through Netflix, if you wanted to undergo multiple viewings, the only cost attributed to this plan was your Netflix subscription. However, film producers have yet to attempt this viewing style in the form of theatrical releases. Most movie theatres already have mobile applications where users can play games based on content appearing before previews.

These applications could potentially help film producers bring these types of films to the theatre. During critical moments throughout the film, users could somehow vote based on multiple choices, and this would create a unique experience for film-goers. Film-goers who saw different viewings could compare and contract the film experience based on the choices the audience made. The possibility of someone getting upset during the film because a particular option was not selected is, of course, a possibility. Film producers could ensure that all possible endings and choice would be available once the film is released elsewhere.

Choose Your Adventure – Streaming Services

For the time being, these types of movies may prove to be more accessible through streaming services. The ability to immediately revisit a film after selecting a specific choice would make this easier for most to navigate. Some people do not have the time or financial means to go to the movie theatre to possibly experience the same set of choices as the previous viewing. Bandersnatch is undoubtedly proof of concept and became a phenomenon over social media platforms also. Social platforms such as Reddit or Twitter allow film enthusiasts to create long threads about choices made in this film. Online communities pool data together and assess different flows that may have flown under the radar. When film producers are unable to access certain types of content when previewing a movie, you know there is a lot to unpack throughout multiple sittings. As screen time increases across the board, users may begin to demand these types of extensive experiences.

5 of the Best True Life Crime Series on TV

Reviews · February 28, 2018

There are many crime series that millions of us are drawn to and it’s even more shocking when they are based on true events. Here are five of the best true-life crime series on TV.

Making a Murderer

Making a Murderer is arguably one of the most popular series Netflix have ever created. The series investigates and dissects every detail on Steven Avery, a man from Wisconsin who spent 18 years in jail before being released thanks to DNA evidence. However, not long after his release, he was accused of another much more serious crime (murder), which landed him back behind bars. The series takes you through the entire process, so you get to see every point of view, from his family and the detectives, which leaves you wondering whether he is truly guilty or not.

OJ: Made in America

Another popular true-life crime series is OJ: Made in America. When thinking of OJ Simpson, many will initially think of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. The documentary series provides and sheds light on the murders, including the initial investigations, the trial, and the aftermath. It also combs through 70 interviews from those closest to OJ Simpson, as well as those with a variety of connections to the story, helping the series become incredibly popular and fascinating to watch.

The Jinx

The Jinx focuses on Robert Durst, the accused murderer of his wife Karen Durst who mysteriously disappeared in 1982. The series features an array of material, including security footage and police interviews that help us understand the case and to come up with our own conclusions on whether Durst killed her. The documentary series spread to the masses and gained worldwide exposure a day before its finale aired, due to Robert Durst being arrested on first-degree murder charges.

Forensic Files

This TV series ran from 1996-2011 and gave us an insight into the forensic science behind violent crimes. The series investigated a wide variety of criminal cases with the main intention being to research, find, and bring forward relevant evidence to find those responsible for the crimes. DNA evidence is vital and can be brought into a case many decades later, as discussed in the Karen Klaas wiki. Whilst the series ended in 2011, you are still able to watch it on streaming platforms such as Netflix.

Born to Kill?

Beginning in 2005, the Born to Kill series investigates the lives and experiences of serial killers, with the one question on everybody’s lips, where they born to kill or did something drive them to the crime. In each episode, we get to look at the whole history of the killer such as their upbringing, any issues they had experienced prior to their crimes, as well as evaluating whether they were truly responsible for their crimes.

Whilst these are just five of the best series, there are many more fascinating and interesting true-life crime series that are available to view on the internet or television.

Get All Your Entertainment Needs In One Place With Xfinity By Comcast #XfinityMoms #Ad

Reviews · November 28, 2017

The below sponsored blog post is written by me on behalf of Xfinity.  Whether or not you agree with me, All opinions and thoughts are 100% my own.

Which communication provider to do use? With the world advancing in the world of technology, You have to pay attention to who you are servicing with. I mean there are so many providers on the market but who to go with? I was thrilled to recently be invited to attend a blogging event at our local Pittsburgh Xfinity Store for #XfinityMoms.

I will be the first to admit that I was not a Comcast customer and was very excited to hear all about what Comcast was and what they offered as I was not sure how Xfinity came into play. After some socializing, We settled down to listen to various people showing us about the products that were being offered. I do not put a lot of restrictions on my kids but the one thing I require is that we all have dinner as a family at least 4 to 5 times a week and hopefully more than that. Having 4 kids, One major thing I would love to change about our family dinners is to have my family members turn off or not to bring their technology to the table. I just feel that is the time for us to learn about each others day and not who messaged who or who posted what. With Xfinity xFi, I can now pause or turn off everyone’s technology by pausing their wifi. This is an awesome feature only unique to Comcast. I have not heard about this feature on any other brand. If I am wrong, Please let me know by commenting below. I love this feature!

Another feature I have found that I cannot live without is the Xfinity X1 voice remote. XFINITY X1 features entertainment just for you by letting you talk into the remote to find a channel, show, movie….Whatever you are looking for. Experience TV like never before with X1. It’s personalized, dynamic, and most of all, It is mine. I have Glaucoma and sometimes it is hard for me to see the buttons on the remote. This way all I have to do is speak my choice and it brings up on the screen all of the choices that match what I have spoken. Another feature I have learned very quickly not to live without. I have found that I can do so much more with the Xfinity X1 voice remote such as voting for my favorite contestant or binge watching my favorite shows on Netflix. Don’t have a smart T.V., No problem because the XFINITY X1 remote turns every T.V. into a smart T.V.. Talk about an added bonus~

Let’s talk about On Demand. I have heard but did not really believe that XFINITY has one of the largest On Demand libraries on the market but that was until I saw it first hand for myself. You name it-It probably is on it. My Husband is getting a little obsessed with XFINITY On Demand as he will stay up really, really late watching all kinds of movies.

The DVR is an awesome feature also as I love the fact that if I record a show in the living room, I can watch it in the bedroom. The ability to watch any DVR recording in another room is the perfect feature for me. Doing laundry, washing dishes or even straightening up the house puts me in a different room and being able to watch a recording gets 2 things done at the same time. I love multi-tasking.

By the end of this event, I did sign up for Comcast. Why? Not only all of the above reasons but I can manage not only my account on a variety of devices but I can manage what I can do with certain aspects of my plan such as pausing the wifi for a child when it is bedtime or allow a child of mine a certain time limit that they are allowed to be on their device.

Xfinity has me sold because I do not know of a communication company that has all of these products. Check out your local Xfinity Store to learn more or even sign up.
